Human Superball

“Stop the room, please. I’d like to get to get off.”
That’s what Hobbes says after chasing his tail around the room in an old Calvin and Hobbes comic. Sounds familiar. Life has been a bit like riding a roller coaster on a ferris wheel attached to a merry-go-round lately. It doesn’t make any sense and you wish you’d never eaten those gummy bears. It also makes you realize random fun things, like,
  • Bad Religion makes great workout music.
Exercise by itself is really boring. Exercise with Bad Religion is fun. I get so caught up in the lyrics I forget all about the mile and a half I still have to walk. I also just love the melodies.
  • The Ramones can always cheer me up.
Somehow listening to “It’s Not My Place (In the 9 to 5 world)” on the way to work makes me feel better about going. The Ramones are irresistible.
  • The Beatles never get old.
I rediscovered Rubber Soul a few days ago and I was blown away all over again. I might never get the line “We have lost/ the time/ that was so hard to find” out of my head, but I don’t really care. Any band that can get around my hatred of having songs on mental loop is a keeper.
  • Lyrics are everything.
Almost everything, anyway. Lines like “I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies” are words to live by. Guess I won’t have to get my philosophy from a bumper sticker after all… Can you tell I love Green Day?
